There wasn’t really any installation, windows 7 simply downloads the proper drivers and starts using it. This installed a Belkin driver from Windows Update.

Ralink makes the chip for the F5D and while the older driver I’d been using for Vista 64 didn’t work for Windows 7, the new one did, although not identified as supporting Windows 7. But now I have to say that I don’t understand the negative reviews.
